Generally the season begins on Memorial Day and ends on Labor day. Beginning with the Taste of the Vineyard in June, throughout the summer provides a variety of local festivals and activities highlighting the best of the Island. The peak of summer is highlighted by the Oak Bluffs fireworks show and Cottage City Illumination night both of which happen in August. Martha’s Vineyard can be as relaxing or as active as you are looking for and truly make for a lifetime of summer memories.

Summer outdoor activities include bird watching at Felix Neck, ocean kayaking along the coast, surfing and body boarding on South Beach, biking on the miles of trails available, kiteflying in Ocean Park, wind and kite surfing, hiking, plenty of golf and tennis and of course it can always be a day at the beach.

Even activities include a spectacular dinner at any of the Islands amazing restaurants keeping in mind that if you’re not dining in Edgartown or Oak Bluffs please bring your own wine. If you’re looking to go out dancing, Oak Bluffs would be the place for an exciting evening and Edgartown is more laid back.

Just about anything you’re looking for, Martha’s Vineyard is the perfect getaway for just the weekend, or the entire summer.
